Publication Ethics

Guidelines for the use of PN JOURNAL: The Priority Nursing Journal is a journal reviewed by the Institut Kesehatan Payung Negeri Pekanbaru. This statement describes the ethical conduct of all parties involved in the process of publishing articles in this journal, including authors, editors-in-chief, editorial boards, reviewers and publishers. The journal follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in handling all aspects of publication ethics and in particular how to handle cases of research and publication infringement. All articles in this journal involving human subjects must respect the principles of research ethics as described in the Helsinki Declaration. The journal adapts COPE to meet high-quality ethical standards for publishers, editors, authors and reviewers. As an important issue, publication ethics need to be clearly explained to improve the quality of research around the world. In this section, we describe the standards for editors, writers, and reviewers. In addition, publishers have no right to violate the integrity of the content and only support timely publishing.

Here are the ethical standards for writers, editors, and reviewers:

Writer's Ethics

Reporting standards

The author of the original research report should present an accurate report on the work done as well as an objective discussion of its significance. The underlying data should be accurately represented in the paper. A paper should contain enough detail and references to allow others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or deliberately inaccurate statements are unethical and unacceptable behavior.

Originality and plagiarism

Authors should ensure that they have written a completely original work, and if the author has used someone else's work and/or words, this has been properly quoted or quoted.

Acknowledgment of Sources.

Proper recognition of the work of others should always be given. The author must cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the work being reported.

Authorship of Papers.

Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, implementation, or interpretation of the reported study. All persons who have made significant contributions must be listed as co-authors. If there are other people who have participated in a particular substantive aspect of the research project, they must be recognized or registered as contributors. Appropriate authors should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included in the paper, and that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the paper and have approved its submission for publication.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors must disclose in their manuscripts any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that may be interpreted to affect the outcome or interpretation of their manuscripts. All sources of financial support for the project must be disclosed.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

When an author discovers significant errors or inaccuracies in his self-published work, the author is obliged to immediately notify the editor or publisher of the journal and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.

Editorial Ethics

  1. The editor must be responsible for every article published in the PN JOURNAL: Priority Nursing Journal.
  2. Editors should help authors to follow the Guidelines for writers.
  3. Editors can communicate with other editors or reviewers in making a final decision.
  4. An editor must objectively evaluate manuscripts for publication, judging each one based on its quality without looking at the author's nationality, ethnicity, political beliefs, race, religion, gender, seniority, or institutional affiliation. Editors should reject assignments when there is a potential conflict of interest.
  5. Editors need to make sure the document sent to the reviewer does not contain the author's information, instead.
  6. Editorial decisions must be communicated to the author accompanied by a reviewer's comment unless they contain offensive or defamatory comments.
  7. Editors should respect the request from the author that someone should not review a post if this is reasonable and feasible.
  8. The editor and all staff must guarantee the confidentiality of the submitted manuscript.
  9. The editor will be guided by the COPE flowchart if there are any alleged violations or disputed authorship.

Ethics of Reviewers / Peers

Contributions to Editorial Decisions.

A peer review partner assists editors in making editorial decisions and through editorial communication with authors can also assist authors in improving papers.

Timeliness.

Any selected peer review who feels ineligible to review research reported in the manuscript or knows that immediate review is not possible should notify the editor and excuse himself or herself from the review process.

Confidentiality.

Any manuscript accepted for review should be treated as a confidential document. They may not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Objectivity Standards.

The review must be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees must clearly express their views with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgment of Sources.

Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the author. Any statement that observations, derivations, or arguments have been previously reported must be accompanied by relevant citations. A reviewer should also draw the editor's attention to substantial similarities or overlaps between the manuscript under consideration and other published papers of which they are personally aware.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest.

Special information or ideas obtained through the review partner must be kept confidential and not used for personal gain. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts where they have a conflict of interest resulting from a competitive, collaborative, or other relationship or connection with any author, company, or institution connected to the paper.
