The Relationship Between Unsafe Action and Unsafe Condition with Workplace Accidents Among Farmers in Bongkudai Village

Abstract

Work accidents among farmers can be caused by various factors including work environment factors, equipment and machine factors, worker factors themselves and work management and organization factors (WHO 2018). Research conducted by Rismayani (2025) found that unsafe work behavior is a significant risk factor for workplace accidents in the agricultural sector, particularly among vegetable farmers (Rismayani, 2025). Research conducted by Dewi (2023) showed that workers who engage in unsafe conditions have a higher risk of workplace accidents than those who work in safe environments. This condition is a significant factor in the agricultural (Dewi, 2023). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between unsafe actions and unsafe conditions among horticultural farmers in East Bongkudai Village, East Bolaang Mongondow District. This research was an observational analytical study with a cross-sectional design. This research was conducted in the East Bongkudai Village plantation area. The population was 126 farmers, and the sample was drawn using a total sampling method of 126 respondents. Data analysis used the Chi-Square test. The results of this study indicate a relationship between unsafe actions and workplace accidents (p-value 0.023), and a relationship between unsafe conditions and workplace accidents (p-value 0.013).
