Abstract
Anxiety during pregnancy is a psychological problem that may negatively affect maternal and fetal health and increase the risk of pregnancy and childbirth complications. One non-pharmacological intervention that can be used to reduce anxiety is hypnotherapy. This study aimed to determine the effect of hypnotherapy on anxiety levels among pregnant women. A quantitative pre-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted. The sample consisted of 30 pregnant women selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) questionnaire before and after a 15-minute hypnotherapy session. Data were analyzed using the Paired Sample t-test. The results showed that the mean anxiety score decreased from 0.83 at pretest to 0.60 at posttest. Statistical analysis revealed a t-value of 2.249 with a p-value of 0.032 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of hypnotherapy on reducing anxiety levels among pregnant women. It can be concluded that hypnotherapy is an effective complementary non-pharmacological therapy for reducing anxiety during pregnancy.
