Abstract

As the elderly population in Indonesia increases, it is projected that by 2010–2035, 10% of the total population will be aged 60 and above. The decline in physiological functions that occurs with aging leads to an increased risk of non-communicable diseases. In the Sri Meranti Village, Umban Sari District, health checks for the elderly at the Posyandu Lansia have been routinely conducted; however, uric acid testing, which is essential for detecting health issues such as hyperuricemia, has not been included. A community service activity was carried out to address this gap, involving uric acid testing and nutrition counseling for 30 elderly participants in Jalan Nelayan RT 7 RW 03. The results of the tests showed that 60% of participants had hyperuricemia, while 40% had normal uric acid levels. This activity successfully met its targets based on participant attendance and program evaluation. It is hoped that through this initiative, the prevalence of health issues related to uric acid can be reduced, and the quality of life for the elderly in the area can be improved.
