Abstract

ARI is a respiratory disease caused by environmental and human factors, with viruses and bacteria contributing. Several aspects that are susceptible to ARI include knowledge, environment, and behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge, the type of house floor, and the habit of opening windows with the incidence of ARI in toddlers. The research method was a quantitative analytical study using a cross-sectional design. The results showed that 43 (52.4%) respondents had good knowledge, 58 (70.7%) had adequate floor type, and 57 (69.5%) had good window opening behavior. There was an effect of knowledge on the incidence of ARI in toddlers (p-value 0.000), there was a relationship between the type of house floor and the incidence of ARI in toddlers (p-value 0.002), and there was a relationship between the habit of opening windows and the incidence of ARI in toddlers (p-value 0.002). Conclusion: Knowledge, the type of floor, and the habit of opening windows are individual, environmental, and behavioral factors that contribute to the incidence of ARI in toddlers.
